Matthew Sloan served as KAPi’s first Vice President of Recruitment from 2011-2012 and the second President of KAPi from 2012-2013. In addition to KAPi, he was a brother of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, an elected representative on the College of Arts & Sciences Academic Integrity Hearing Board, and a member of the Class of 2013 Senior Class Campaign. He graduated from Cornell in 2013 with majors in Government and Sociology and minors in History and Law & Society.

After graduating from Cornell, he attended Duke University School of Law (JD ’16), where he was an elected representative to the Duke Bar Association and served as Special Projects Editor for the Duke Journal of Constitutional Law and Public Policy. During law school, he also externed for the Honorable Amy St. Eve of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Honorable Joe L. Webster of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

Since graduating from law school, he has worked as a labor and employment attorney in Chicago, Illinois. He is currently an associate at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, specializing in labor-management relations, workplace health and safety, and whistleblower litigation.
