“HONORING THOSE WHO PAVED THE PATH BEFORE US, STEADFASTLY SERVING THOSE AROUND US, AND MAKING PROGRESS FOR THOSE TO COME”
Early in the spring semester of 2011, four brothers at Cornell University mobilized to form a new pre-law fraternity on campus, Kappa Alpha Pi. On May 7, 2011, the four founding fathers were joined by 32 other undergraduates and their faculty adviser, Professor Michael Evan Gold, in the induction of Delta chapter of Kappa Alpha Pi.
As the Delta chapter, the founding fathers at Cornell University followed the models set forth by the University of Michigan, the University of California Los Angeles, and the University of California Riverside. These chapters shared similar paths to forming their own local chapters of KAPi, creating close-knit communities, allowing their members to gain lifelong mentors and mentees and promote intellectual diversity through bonds of fraternalism and support.
Kappa Alpha Pi (abbreviated KAPi, pronounced “Kap-ee”) is dedicated to providing interested students with information about the law school application process, law school, and a wide range of legal careers. Kappa Alpha Pi aims to facilitate interaction between brothers, individuals within the law profession, and the Cornell community as a whole. Our fraternity is designed to educate about the field of law, but also strives to provide the most essential professional skills for its members. Our programming ranges from development of pre-professional skills to preparation for the Law School Admission Test (LSAT). Brothers also participate in service and social events to foster friendship and camaraderie within the fraternity. Big-Little pairings and “families” within KAPi help strengthen the bonds of fraternalism that transcends normal friendships. The relationships that begin in the fraternity continue on throughout one's life.
