Mohammed “Mo” Islam

 
 

Mo is a fourth-year FGLI student in the ILR School with minors in Inequality Studies, Law & Society, and Business. He was born in Bangladesh but grew up in the Bronx, NY. He wants to pursue a career in impact litigation, specifically criminal and education litigation.

Outside of KAPi, he is the Captain of the Cornell Speech and Debate Society Worlds Team, President Emeritus of the ILR Student Government Association, a Pi Lambda Sigma (POLIS) Fellow, an ILR Peer Mentor, and an Administrative Assistant at OADI. He is most passionate about being Chair of the New York State Opportunity Programs where he advocates/lobbies for low-income students in higher education.

Last summer, he was a Program Manager at Amazon Web Services. In past summers, he was a Legal Intern/Paralegal at a Public Defender's Office and a private Criminal Defense Law Office in the South Bronx. After graduation, he will be join Teach For America’s NYC Corp. In his spare time, Mo likes to watch mockumentary sitcoms, indulge in Shonda Rhimes’s work, and hang out with Brothers Jamaya (his little) and Thej (his grand littles).
