Aliou-Ali Kamau Gambrel
Aliou is a Cornell University College Scholar and Africana Studies double major, and a senior. His forthcoming thesis considers the nature of the individual liberty in the Haitian Language and its semantic relation to Senegambian socio-cultural constructions of these concepts. Born in Wisconsin, Gambrel, who is of Senegalese and Haitian descent has had the opportunity to live in a number of locations throughout his life. This has significantly impacted his interest in the law. Gambrel hopes eventually to work with Islamic law, and questions of human rights. Specifically, he is interested in expanded interpretations of Fiqh in Mali and the Senegambia region, as well as migration law.
